Disability equity video series

A video series on visible and invisible disability, built on direct-to-camera interviews and day-in-the-life footage, filmed across two continents.

Challenge

A major pharmaceutical organization wanted a video series on disability equity that underscored its commitment to inclusivity for all employees, regardless of visible or invisible disabilities.

This is a brief with a high failure rate. Handled carelessly it produces content that speaks about people rather than with them, flattens very different experiences into one message, and leaves the contributors feeling used. The production process mattered as much as the output.

Solution

We centered the approach on personal storytelling: a series of films in which associates living with disabilities tell their own stories, in intimate direct-to-camera interviews, alongside b-roll capturing a day in the life of each participant.

Before any filming, we held pre-filming sessions with each contributor — partly to make them comfortable, and mostly to let them shape their own narrative rather than answer questions they had not seen. What people chose to include was theirs to decide.

Filming took place across Europe and the United States, with our local production teams managing multiple locations so contributors were filmed where they actually live and work rather than flown to a studio.

Impact

The videos became a cornerstone of the company’s internal communications campaign on equity and inclusion, sparking meaningful conversations across the organization and reinforcing its commitment to a supportive workplace.
